This course introduces students to standard Mandarin Chinese language and is designed for students with no or minimal previous background in spoken or written Mandarin. Students in this course focus on learning essential vocabulary, practicing pronunciation, and understanding simple grammatical structures. This knowledge prepares students to effectively communicate in Mandarin on a limited range of topics related to everyday situations. Students practice listening and speaking in real-life situations, learn to read and write Chinese characters, and examine how culture and language interact in China.

Lau Wai Luen

Lau Wai Luen is a native Chinese speaker living in Malaysia who received formal Chinese education in Teaching Chinese as Second Language from the Beijing Language & Culture University ( BLCU ). He has been teaching Mandarin for over five years and has coached many adults and children for Mandarin lessons from beginner level to advanced level, both in speaking and writing. Teaching Mandarin is Lau’s passion, and he has devoted his life to helping students learn better and faster by using various effective methodologies. He enjoys integrating traditional Chinese culture within his lessons in an effort to deepen his student’s understanding of the language. Both language and culture are inseparable and Lau’s goal is to help his students enjoy the journey of learning Mandarin.

Can I take INQUIZ Labs courses from my country?

Yes! We have students from around the world successfully complete our classes. We design our timetables with the global time zone differences in mind. If a student happens to have missed the class sessions live, that student can catch up at a more convenient time by reviewing the class transcript, which contains a full record of everything in class. Students can also ask questions about the material at any time on the dedicated class message board.

Can I use INQUIZ as a full Middle (Prep) or High School curriculum?

Our courses curricula are designed specifically with learning outcomes in mind. Each offers a thorough explanation of a single subject area, teaching both the key facts as well as the more general problem-solving strategies needed for success in their current school and beyond.

Each course includes numerous practical exercises to enhance core skills and competencies and to assure student progress. Weekly homework and coursework serve a similar role. While some students use our materials as a supplement for more-advanced curricula, a student can use our courses as their entire curriculum.

How are the courses better than just reading through the textbooks or watching videos?

Our courses give students the opportunity to work directly with sophisticated instructors, and students can ask questions at any time. The courses also provide structure, and our subject courses give students experience with and feedback on their writing.

Can my student get help outside of class time?

Absolutely! Students may use the course message board to ask questions at any time about course material. Our instructors and assistants provide live support.

What happens outside of class time?

Outside of the live classes, students have weekly homework assignments that they can complete on their own time. In some courses, students have reading assignments to complete before the corresponding class session. If students have questions outside of class time, they can post their questions on the dedicated course message board.
